Some good energy!!!

So today we took a step forward as a family, we feel strongly that the burning of carbon into our atmosphere is unacceptable at the levels at which it currently occurs.

I have a car which burns petrol and I feel stuck that I do the job I do and live in a place which demands that a car is necessary. One day I will get myself a green hybrid machine which is less impact!!

There is something we can do tho and that is look at where our energy comes from. Most of the larger companies still rely heavily on the burning of these carbons to make electricity and with there competitive prices in with ever increasing energy costs it is tempting to think you could never afford to buy into renewable energy.

That is where we have been wrong!!!

You will be surprised at how competitive the rates are to!!!

Climate March 2014

Climate Change is a very real issue and I think probably the most important this world has to face.......

What is the point in trying to pump money, energy and time into all the other extremely important causes of the world, from conservation, to health, to poverty and famine and animal rights

if we destroy our home there is no planet b!!!
(quote stolen from a banner at the march)

The children and I made it along to the march in London and it became a bit of  a pilgrimage. I really wanted to find an alternative means of travelling to London but due to the cost of public transport we had no option but to drive? Due to this we made more of a weekend of it and went to The Natural History Museum on the Saturday before the march then stayed with a good friend in the evening.

I will also be teaching the children all about Carbon offsetting!!

On the morning of the march we met with other children and families, preparing for the day we got the creative juices flowing by decorating banners and making signs to hold.

40 000 people made it to London and a whopping 400 000 marched NY!!  Proud to have taken the children! The vid below gives the odd example of why as a family we are so worried about
anthropogenically accelerated climate change.........

Ocean Acidification

Melting Ice Caps                                                                    Sea level rise

Methane release from Ice                Ecosystem Collapse

Under the sea - down there it's better take it from me!!!

Last one, sorry has been too long and Im enjoying going through my videos!! It is a little long but atleast watch to the turtle.... he's cool! :o)

I love seals.......

ok..... feeling like I need to stick another wildlife vid up on here - keep it up and perhaps I could go into competition with nat geo?? This one is a little more serious, I made the video for a conference on the stranding of marine mammals, I was trying to explain my reason for completing my little walk last year and rather than put it into words I thought I would put this short film together, I think it hits the spot?? Note the nasty scaring and wounds around the necks....

and if that interested you, here is another of a release earlier this year - the best bit of the rescue rehab work done in Cornwall with our seals.....

yes it is net and rope and packing straps that entangle seals causing life long and often fatal injury and suffering!!

Do a good thing...................clean a beach................please????

A fab memory........ I wanna go sailing with dolphins!!

So recently I have committed myself to a proper job with full time hours, a company mobile phone, mileage and a laptop - just delightful really. I feel success has fallen at my feet, I even signed into a company pension scheme, blooming marvellous. Am I now done for the next 30 years..... I can work hard, reap the benefits and live to my means with an ever increasing monthly commitment of bills, perhaps a mortgage and even a car on hire purchase!! I mustn't forget to sign up to a 24 month contract for sky tv - if I include discovery and nat geo it will be just like I am living my dream! I can sit on my sofa, turn on my giant plasma tv with hd surround sound and never set foot outside my house (either side of work) ever again!

And hell may just freeze over first.........

not when there are creatures like this to be seen on our planet!!
